Dena Johnson

Dena Johnson, 96, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston following several years at the Adel Acres Care Center. Dena was born on January 19, 1913 at Raton, New Mexico to Paul and Ernesta Brugioni.

Dena graduated from East High School. She played the saxophone in the school band and loved the high school class reunions. Dena was a charter member of VFW and loved to dance and was blessed with many friends.

Dena worked at the Polk County Home, Swift and Company then retired after 30 years at the Ford Implement Company.

Dena is survived by her brother, Donald Brugioni; and nephews, George Donati and Dennis (Carolyn) Brugioni; and great nephew Ryan Brugioni.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Paul and Ernesta Brugioni, husband, Raymond T. Johnson; brothers, Deno and Darrell Brugioni; and sisters, Desma Kasper, Delma Donati; nephew, Sean Brugioni; and niece, Lisa Brugioni.

Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2009, at the All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Street, Des Moines, with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery. A visitation with the family present will be from 4-6 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2009, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, with a prayer service at 6 p.m.
