Som Naonady

Som Naonady, age 71, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Mercy Hospital. Som was born the son of Het and Sao Naonady on January 14, 1951.

Som came to the United States in 1989 and settled in Des Moines. He began working at Monfort in Des Moines. In 1995, he went to work for Iowa Spring Manufacturing in Adel, Iowa. He married Joy Sikham in Des Moines in 1996.

He enjoyed tending to his grandchildren. He was a handyman who could fix houses and cars. He was a nice man with a big heart who would help anyone in need.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joy Naonady; children, Thong Sikham and Alyssa Sikham; and grandchildren, Arina Soda, Isaiah Phommachanh, and Donovan Sikham.

Som was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. A private family burial will take place at Glendale Cemetery at a later date.
