“All these places have their moments. With lovers and friends, I still can recall. Some are dead and some are living. In my life, I’ve loved them all.”

Mark Crawford, 45, of Des Moines, passed away Saturday, January 15th while surrounded by his family and friends that Mark considers family, all who loved him dearly. Mark is a husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, best friend, boating co-pilot and neighbor.

Mark was born to Deb and Dave Crawford on August 5th, 1976 at Des Moines General and spent the majority of his life in the Historic East-Side of Des Moines. He attended Willard and Phillips Elementary, May Goodrell Middle School and graduated from North High in 1994. He later settled into a home in the Brook Run Village neighborhood with his wife Jenny Crawford (Schumacher) of 19 years, who will always be his queen, and had two beautiful children, Luke and Elizabeth (Ellie) who are his cherished gifts. He worked for Dee Zee, Inc. for the last 6 years which is conveniently located near his favorite grocery store, the Pleasant Hill Fareway.

Aside from his wedding day and births of his two children, one of his greatest days ever was when his life-long favorite Chicago White Sox won the World Series in 2005. In addition to enjoying summer evenings watching the Sox, he loved Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball and getting together with his family for Green Bay Packers games.

Mark loved the idea of the outdoors, something he learned while participating in Boy Scouts at an early age with his father. When the weather suited his preference, he enjoyed camping, fishing, nature photography and road trips in his Toyota FJ. Listening to music was a passion and his playlists would set the mood to many gatherings and celebrations. His music always accompanied his other favorite activities which were throwing chips around a poker table or smoking meats, which he loved to share with those he loved.

Mark is survived by his wife, Jenny and two children Luke (17) and Ellie (13), his mother Deb Crawford, four sets of brother and sister in-laws and 13 nieces and nephews: Rich and Betsy Byrnes (Schumacher), Adam, Aaron, Aiden, Anna and Andrew. Garth and Carrie Jones (Schumacher), Louis, Hank and Eily. Chad Kenworthy and Jessica Schumacher, Dylan and Daylee. Justin and Lisa Harrison (Schumacher), Sage, Willow and River, mother-in-law Connie Schumacher, several aunts and uncles, and best friends Andy, Jim, Brett and Justin.

He was preceded in death by his father Dave, brother Matthew and father-in-law Bill Schumacher.

Private services will be held.
