Service Details
Lawrence Starmer, 87, died Monday, October 19, 2009. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2009 at Our Lady of the Americas Visitation Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Leon Cemetery in Leon, IA at 3 p.m. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Rosary service Thursday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Salazar Starmer; daughter, Charlotte Miller; son, Jack Starmer; brother, Barry Starmer; sister, Genevive Simmerman and many other loving family members.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Vern; sister, Bonnie Jean and daughter, Alice Faye.

I love you pa....may you rest in peace. Kiss mom for me. I'm so sorry that we
no one told us how ill you were. We attempted to see you many times but was
turned away. But in my heart I know that you know that. Now I know why you
were going to leave her. I cant say thank you enough for everything you did
for all of us and we will be forever grateful.
Virginia--shame on you for your "unchristian like behavior". You'd best ask
the Lord for forgiveness if you ever want to get to heaven. Christians don't
treat people like you treated us. I just want you to know the cross of flowers
was placed on my mother's grave-who was a real woman and never treated him like a
piece of crap like you did. I hope you know what "karma" is. In case you don't
what goes around comes around. May God have mercy on you.

Rest in peace Pa we love you dearly. Had someone took the time to make a call we would have been there. We tried to see you and that ----- would not let us in the house. We all know we tried and we hope you know that too. We will see you on the other side. Stan

SHAME ON YOU VIRGINIA! And you call yourself a Good Christian.
How Christian was it that you did not mention the love of Lawrences life in his obit, He was married to my Aunt Barbara for 36 years.
How Christian was it of you to not mention the 5 children he raised with Barb as his own. And they loved as their Dad.
But most of all, how Christian was it of you to toss aside the flowers that those kids sent, per the funeral home those flowers could not be at the funeral.
I guess maybe it was because you knew that before Lawrence got sick, he stated to those kids that he was going to leave you.
You need to go to Confession and really ask the Lord for forgivness on this one Virginia, You will need that forgivness to ever get to Heaven.

Another sad day in our family. Lost my final grandparent with out even knowing that it was coming to an end so that I could have said goodbye or shared a final moment with him. Now he is where he deserves to be. Free from a body that kept his spirit trapped. I know that mamo will take care of him and show him the way. I luv you papo and now u can rest after your long fought battle. Until we meet again.......

I was so saddened when I read of the death of my Uncle Lawrence.I had no idea
he was in such bad health.I only wish I had known so I could of said goodbye. He was in my life from the time I was born, Barb and Lawrence were two of the 1st people to see my son when he was born.All of my life it was Barb and Lawrence and Dot and Mouse.We all went camping together, shared good times and grief together.When our Beloved Barb passed away 10 years ago,thru my mothers grief at the loss of her sister, the one thing she knew she had to do was send a Thank You card to Lawrence, for the care he had given her in her final years. Lawrences path changed after he lost "Mother" as he refered to my Aunt Barb, but he was always still there for us, always offering my husband a beer,
but never an offer of a beer to me, I think he thought I was still a small child.Lawrence was the kind of man you would want to point to and tell your son's,"thats the kind of man I want you to grow up to be."He married a woman with 5 kids , raised them as his own,(that is why they referred to him as "Pa"), he was always the calm one and the voice of reason. I will always miss him, but now I know its once again, Barb and Lawrence, Dot and Mouse.

So sad to hear the news on the loss of Lawrence. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family. Lawrence was a very good friend for many years. May you rest in peace, Lawrence. God bless and good bye good friend. love always.
