Service Details

Cooper Owen Panek, born on December 21, 2021, passed away in the embrace of his loving family on Saturday, January 8, 2022 after fighting a courageous battle for 18 days. He was the son of Madison and Jacob Panek and the brother of his beloved sister, Olivia. Cooper was an angel that was born too soon and left us too soon. Yet, he touched so many lives and was deeply loved by family, friends and all those who cared for him at the Neonatal Unit at Blank Children’s hospital.

Cooper “Trooper” was the smallest baby to survive at the NICU at Blank and fought to the end to stay with his family. During his short time on earth he taught us strength, love and courage. He is being met in Heaven by many loving family members that have gone on before him.

In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his paternal grandparents, Liz and Darrin Myers and Rich and Tori Panek; maternal grandparents, Kim Stock, Wally Glover (Todd Denne) Scott and Lori Ferris; paternal great-grandparents, Aletha Panek, Paul Farris, Peggy Cronin; and maternal great-grandparents, Shan and Frank Ince, Larry Heck (Kathy Zagnoli), Butch Ferris, Katie and Ralph Lane, Bruce and Delores Early; and aunts, uncles, cousins and other loving family members.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Pkwy in West Des Moines with a luncheon to follow after the service. For those unable to attend the service will be live streamed at link text
Visitation will take place from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 17 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway also in West Des Moines. A flowing dinner reception will be offered to all guests. Madison and Jacob also invite everyone to attend a Sparkler Tribute to be held at 7:30 p.m. to honor the beautiful light that Cooper shared with the world in his brief time here on earth.

Memorial contributions can be directed to the family in loving memory of Cooper. Online condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.
