Alexander Abyei

Alexander Abyei, age 39, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022 at his home in Des Moines.

Alexander was born January 9, 1981 in Juba, South Sudan. He was high energy and very funny. Alexander loved people and was an entertainer, just like his father. He was highly intelligent and excelled at drawing. He was very outgoing and loved his family, his children, and his friends.

He is survived by his siblings, Agum, Achol, Monica, Grace, Jaklyn, Tong, Riakgol, Auon, Dor, Kuejok, Rose, Martha Sr., Martha Jr., Chonga, Bob, and Nyitur Abyie; and brother, Sunday Long. He is also survived by his children; step-mother, Yom Abyei; and many nieces and nephews.

Alexander was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Abyei; mother, Elizabeth Dut Abyei; step-mother, Mary Lado; and his brother, Athian Abyie.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2022 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will take place at Glendale Cemetery after the services.
