Johnny Gwinn

Johnny Gwinn, 90, passed away on December 24, 2021, at University Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Des Moines. He was born in Lucas County, Iowa, the son of Johnny L. and Leota F. (Boston) Gwinn who preceded him in death.

Johnny was also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Joy Gwinn; son, Steven Eugene Gwinn; great-grandson, Samuel; and his siblings, Rosa, Betty, Ray, Jerry, James and Gerald.

He is survived by his siblings, Lester, Gwendolyn, David and Roger; children, Gregory A. Gwinn, Michael G. Gwinn and Cathy M. Accordino; 11 grandchildren, Christine, Daniel, Stephanie, Courtney, Steven, Shannon, Shelley, Richard, Joseph, John and Angela; and 25 great-grandchildren; other loving relatives and many special friends.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., on Friday, January 7, 2022, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Johnny’s family kindly requests casual attire at the visitation.

Cremation will occur after visitation and he will be laid to rest in the spring with his wife at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
