Lyle E. Rice

Lyle Eugene Rice, age 78, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021 from a short battle with lung cancer. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Annie Rice, his daughter Pammey Rice, and his six siblings. He is survived by his wife Katherine Rice (Helm), daughter Tammy (Dan) Weis, his two sons Rod and Doug Rice, step-son Brett (Amy) Dudley, step-daughter Beth (Chris) Sauter, and numerous grandchildren.

Lyle worked for the Des Moines School District and retired in 2005. He enjoyed retirement with his grandkids and working part time at the Iowa State Fair. He was a major caregiver for his wife and others. Lyle also enjoyed the company of his friends at McCuen’s Pub.

There will be a celebration of life for all his family and friends on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Simpson United Methodist Church, 2600 Capitol Ave, Des Moines, IA 50317.
