Alvin "Skip" Eugene Holtman

Skip Holtman was born June 21, 1946 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area. He graduated from Tech High School and worked as a truck driver for Holland Trucking until his retirement in 2008. His CB handle was “Droopy Drawers”.

Skip was a character! He loved to read, especially about the military. He was very proud of his military service in the United States Navy aboard the USS Hugh Pervis and USS Thomas J. Gary. He enjoyed watching movies. He loved his neighborhood and considered them his extended family. He was always willing to lend a hand if needed.

Skip passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the age of 75.

He is survived by his son, Thomas (Kristine) Holtman; grandchildren, Darien and Brody; siblings, Elizabeth Geist, Daniel (Deborah) Holtman, and Paul (Judy) Holtman; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

According to Skip’s wishes, he was cremated, and there will be a celebration of life at Hamilton’s Funeral Home on Friday, June 17, 2022. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by memorial service at 11:00 a.m.
