Geraldine Lee

Geraldine Jeannette Lee, age 81, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021.

Geraldine was born November 28, 1940 in Des Moines, Iowa to James and Minnie (Brooks) Nelson. She graduated from Tech High School in 1957. Geraldine worked for Look Magazine and then later for the United States Postal Service as a clerk for 25 years until her retirement.

Geraldine married Calvin R. “Pete” Lee in July of 1981. She enjoyed making homemade cards and stamps. She collected figurines and most recently enjoyed making jewelry.

She is survived by her children, Randy Spieker, Theresa (Jim) Kern, Scott Spieker, and Tommy Spieker; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, James and Minnie Nelson; husband, Pete Lee; sisters, Jackie, Sharon, and Cathy; grandson, Clay Spieker; and great-grandson, Grant Spieker.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2021 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2021, also at Hamilton’s, and will be followed by burial at Avon Cemetery.
