To the entire Collins family,
We are so saddened to hear about Mike's passing. We were both students of his in Missouri Valley back in the 70's and so loved having him as a teacher, coach and friend. We laugh still that Dan was given "the paddle" by Mr. Collins for acting up in class. (It was much deserved!) We both became such dear friends with Mr. Collins and his family that we once stayed with the children while their parents went on a trip to St. Louis. Coach Collins was such an incredible mentor to Dan and everyone on the team. I can't imagine how many stories there are out there about him having touched people's lives.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Family of Mike Collins,
My deepest sympathy for you during this time of Mike's passing. I spent the better part of four summers with Mike playing baseball in Missouri Valley. He was passionate about his role as an educator and coach. He was a mentor, leader, and friend for many young men on the ballfield. My Prayers are with you.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad and difficult time. Mr. Collins was tough on his students, but also had a robust sense of humor. I remember the whole class bursting out in laughter on several occasions. He will be missed, but I hope your fond memories of him will offer you some peace and comfort in the future.

Dear Sue,
It is with deep sadness I learn of your loss. I too am a Missouri Valley High School student of Mr. Collins. Many of my fondest memories of school are tied to Mr. Collins. He was my coach and teacher. He gave me a passion for reading Tolkens, he encouraged me on the playing field like a father. He was tough, he was fun and he had compassion for those around him. The love he had for his job and his students was palpable.
May God Bless you and your family. There is comfort in knowing that he is with God and no longer in pain. One day, all will be at the table together with Him.
Sincerely,

TO: The Family of Mike Collins
I was very saddened to hear of Mike's passing. Mike had such a powerful impact on so many lives over the years... and one of those lives was mine. When Mike (or I should say Mr. Collins) was an English teacher at Missouri Valley High School I was fortunate to be a student in a number of his classes. He gave me an appreciation for English, literature and writing that I carry to this day. I am very grateful for having known him and having learned from him.
Please know that Mike and his family are in my thoughts and prayers in the coming days.
Sincerely,
John

To the entire family,
I too had Mr. Collins during my high school years at Missouri Valley. He gave me my one and only detention and then only made me bring chocolate donuts for breakfast which he and I shared in the commons before school. Guess it really wasnt a detention after all. He was a tough teacher but he was always one of my favorite.
My thoughts and prayers to his whole family and all his friends. God Bless.
