Robert Allan Rowe

Robert Allan Rowe passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021 in Des Moines, Iowa after a brief illness. He was born on May 6, 1958 in Cleveland Heights, Ohio to Allan Eugene Rowe and Joanne Ruth (Thacker) Rowe.
Robert went on to attend Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio and from there pursued a career in actuarial science having reached the ultimate goal of passing all of the actuarial exams to place him with the finest in his field.
He began his career at State Auto in Columbus, Ohio and in 1991 he relocated his family to Des Moines, Iowa and was employed by Allied Insurance which would later become a Nationwide Insurance company. He retired from Nationwide Insurance in 2019.
Robert also known as Bob or Rob, loved his family and was a great friend. Hence came the names BobbyATM or ATM with him ever ready with the extra cash for one of his buddies in need.
He loved to golf and was the commissioner of Ankeny Otter Creek’s Thursday Night Men’s League. He delighted in organizing and supervising events for his friends including the yearly College Bowl Pool, NFL Playoff Survivor Pool, Ankeny Fantasy Football and the Annual 141 Hold’em Tournament to name a few. He enjoyed a good game of chess as well as game days with the family and trips to Las Vegas. Robert was an avid Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers fan. He also followed Buckeye football and basketball.
Surviving Robert are his loving wife, Candy M. (Sleeper) Rowe; daughter, Allison M. Rowe; and son, Remington A. Rowe, both of Des Moines; and his younger brother, Douglas S. Rowe as well as many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and other family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patricia Lynn (Rowe) Hercheck.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date after the holidays for friends and family.
