Albert Aviles, 84, passed away December 10, 2021 at Unity Point Health Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

Albert was born April 8, 1937 in Pomona Valley, California to Juan and Anastasia Aviles. He grew up helping his father work on what was originally known as the Southern Pacific Railway. When he was a boy he would help his mother in the summers picking grapes, oranges, and avocadoes in northern California. Albert retired from Livingston-Graham-Irwindale in California, where he was a union welder for many years. He belonged to Operating Engineer Local 12 in Pasadena, California. He was a hardworking family man, loved and greatly respected by his family and friends. Albert always gifted his children and grandchildren and contributed to many Veterans Organizations and Homeless Charities. He will be remembered for his kind and gracious heart and willingness to help anyone with anything. Albert kept in close contact with his beloved family in California and loved the Santa Anita horse races and Finish Line horse races. Albert also enjoyed going to Prairie Meadows. He loved to travel, especially to Mexico and he loved his seafood. He also loved listening to his oldies music on his road trips and listening to Christmas music during the Holidays. Albert was a devout, lifelong Catholic.

Albert is survived by his children, Mercy Pedraza, Henry James Aviles, Albert Aviles, Jr., Roberta Aviles, Ana (Javier) Palomar, Selene (Charles) Knudsen, Alba Aviles, Samuel (Alondra) Aviles and Steve Ruiz; grandchildren, Albert Aviles, Alina Aviles, Raul (Lisa) Perez, John Aviles, Krystal Rodriguez, Victoria Herrera, Charles Knudsen, Joseph Aviles, Kaleb Aviles, Julius Aviles, Stephen Aviles and Tahlia Aviles; siblings, Pete and Louie Aviles; sisters, Juanita “Jenny” Aviles, Margaret Rojas and Rita Florez; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and Godchildren; as well as a host of extended family and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
