Larry Dewayne McCombs

Larry McCombs, 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 10, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born January 2, 1943 to Lester and Leona McCombs in Des Moines.

Larry served in the Navy and worked as a dry waller for over 50 years. He enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing, and hunting. He cherished the 25 years of memories he had of spending time with his family at their lake house on Lake Ponderosa.

Larry is survived by his companion of 33 years, Jeannie Kaplan; daughter, Gidgit McCombs; grandson, Dylan McCombs; brother, Leon (Sally) McCombs; and a host of other family and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Leona McCombs; two sisters; and son, Stacy McCombs.

His cremated remains will be interred at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in the spring of 2022.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences and prayers Jeannie and all of Larrys family. I remember the good, ol days at Lake Ponderosa and his sense of humor and a lot of laughing and kidding around. Good times. Take care. Cherish the memories.
