Pyrtle “Junior” Jones, Jr., 55, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.
Junior was born October 5, 1966 in Des Moines, Iowa. He attended Lincoln High School in Des Moines and later completed his GED. He was a hard-working person, holding many laborer positions. He was a member of Local 177 Laborers Union. Junior worked in carpentry and built many homes over the years. He later went on to own his own tree service company starting in the 1990s. Junior was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, camping, and hunting. He was a Minnesota Vikings fan and enjoyed going on different trips over the years to many different places. Junior was a recovered alcoholic with 30 years of sobriety and was a longtime member of AA. Junior was a collector and liked finding his “treasures” to add to his collections. He was liked by many and was a very kind and soft spoken person.
He is survived by his daughter Koncetta Jones, son Terry Tabbee, son Thomas “Tommy” Dershem, sister Theresa Walker (Rob), brother Bill (Donna) Jones, sister Jennie Jones (Scott), and many other extended family and friends.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents Connie and Berton Groves.

I have many fond memories of times spent with Junior. We lived together for awhile in the mid 90's and I always found his ritual shrine building of Vikings memorabilia around the TV while watching games one of many great memories. I will miss you brother, love you dearly. -Chad

Junior will be missed, he was a bright spot in my life and the lives of many of my friends. My condolences to his family, his children, and everyone else who knew him. I was blessed to have known him and certainly admired him. So long dear friend, I'll meet you at the the Big Meeting someday.... Thanks for all you taught me friend - grateful. Bob
