Helen Moore

Helen L. Moore, 78, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on October 16, 2009 at the Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House in Des Moines, Iowa.

The family will greet friends from on Saturday, October 24th from 10 - 11:30 A.M. at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home where there will be a luncheon to follow at 11:30 A.M. There will then be a 1:00 P.M. funeral service with burial to follow at Scotch Ridge Cemetery.

Helen was born on November 5, 1930 and had attended Spring Hill School. In 1947 she married Francis W. Harpole and had 3 children. In 1974 she married Louis F. Moore, Sr. She previously worked at the Bizzmart Super Valu in Winterset and at Earl May on Fleur Drive in Des Moines, Iowa, from 1981 to 2002. She was a member of the Y-teens and the Patterson WSCS.

She is survived by her children, Linda Kraft of Winterset, Karen Kirk of Marshalltown, and Jim Harpole of Newhall; step-children, Scott Moore of Ankeny, Skip Moore of Des Moines, David Moore of Lake Berryessa, California, Meredith Paukert of Clearwater, Florida, Eric Moore of Murray and Curt Moore of Des Moines; sister, Velma Maxine Harpole of Patterson; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Louis Moore; parents, Leo and Mable Foust; brothers, Don and Bill Foust; half-brothers, Howard Foust and Carl Van Pelt, and half-sisters, Vivian Sorenson and Wilma Whitlow.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Patterson United Methodist Church.
