Howard H. Smith

Howard H. Smith died on November 22, 2021. He was 93 years old. He was born on October 11, 1928, to William and Ester Smith on a farm four miles north of Colfax, Iowa. He attended Wallace Elementary School, Brook’s School, Woodrow Wilson Junior High, and East High School graduating January 1947. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad from 1945 to 1957 when he graduated from Drake University. He then went to work for Meredith Corporation and retired in 1991 after serving as plant manager in Clarion, Iowa.

He is survived by two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna of 69 years and 10 months, daughter Donna McLaughlin, and sister Marie Skoog.

Per his wishes he has given his body to Des Moines University and will be buried with his wife at a later date.
