Leslie “J.R.” E. Bloomer Jr. age 77, passed away peacefully on November 17th, 2021, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Community of Christ Church, 4504 Ashworth Road in West Des Moines with a lunch following.

Leslie was born October 18, 1944, in Des Moines, IA, to Leslie Bloomer Sr. and Lillian (Larsen) Bloomer. He graduated from North High School in 1962. He worked for Dico Tire in Des Moines for 35 years. He was a dedicated son, loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great -grandfather. In his free time he enjoyed his 1968 Pontiac GTO, Antique Car Shows, the TV show “Dallas”, building model ships, dancing at Parents without Partners, and spending time with his family.

Leslie is survived by his children, Tonya (Stephanie) Simatovich of West Des Moines, Jason Bloomer of Des Moines, and Leah (Mike) Hill of Des Moines;13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; half-sister Nancy Fitzgerald of Colorado Springs, CO; and ex-wife Cecillia Coates of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step father Frank Cardamon; brother, Robert Bloomer; three sisters, Dolores Ireland, Barbara Kirzweil, and Greneviere Gavin; and one grandchild.
