of Des Moines, Iowa

Robert Newman, age 67, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines. He was born the son of Ralph and Doris (Houseman) Newman on June 9, 1954 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Robert attended Lincoln High School, Class of 1972. After high school, he began working for the City of Des Moines Parks & Recreation. He later worked at Des Moines International Airport as a heavy equipment operator, he worked with snowplows and track loaders. In 1975 Robert met the love of his life, Linda Bainter and the two later were united in marriage in December of 1979 in Des Moines, to this union three children were born.

Robert was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially through text messaging. He was a wonderful father, loving grandpa, and a great friend; he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is lovingly survived by wife, Linda Newman; daughters, Rochelle (Matt) Williams, Breanna (Donny) Rodriguez, and Jodi Newman; 4 grandchildren, Zerek, Kaelyn, Quintin, and Cameran; mother, Doris Newman; and brother, Kevin (Mary) Newman.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Newman; and brother, Randy Newman.
