Daniel Ray “Dan” Eppley
of West Des Moines, Iowa
Dan Eppley, age 71, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, November 15, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born the son of Edwin and Ida Mae (Colson) Eppley on December 2, 1949, in Clarksville, Iowa. Dan retired from the printing press industry after many years. He was devout Christian and his faith was very important to him.
Dan was a car enthusiast, he raced sporty cars, Austin-Healey Bugeye Sprite – H production and worked on British cars. Majority of Dan and Margie’s dates consisted of her handing him tools and him teaching her how to fix things. He enjoyed time spent with his son, fishing, and watching hockey. Dan will be remembered most as a handy man, strong work ethic, very considerate, with an incredible sense of humor. He will live on through the hearts and lives that he has touched in his lifetime. He was loved by many.
He is lovingly survived by wife just shy of 42 years, Margie Eppley; son, Ted Eppley; father, Edwin Eppley; brothers, Jeff Eppley and Tom (Kaey) Eppley; and nieces and nephews, Ben Eppley, Brent (Adriana) Eppley, Kyrie Eppley, Stephanie (Mike) Clarke, and Brad (Susan) Harris.
Dan was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Mae Eppley; and sister, Priscilla Michka.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, December 2, 2021, also at the funeral home followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Des Moines.
Those planning on an expression of sympathy, please direct your memorials to the ARL, ASPCA or to a charity of your choice.
