Stephen Carter

Stephen Eugene Carter, 66, passed away Friday, November 12, 2021 at Taylor House Hospice. He was born July 2, 1955 to Leonard and Margaret (Barker) Carter in Des Moines.
Steve graduated from SE Polk High and retired from Firestone in 2017 after 28 ½ years of service. In his retirement, he loved to watch his grandson Kasey’s ball games and enjoyed shooting with his friends at the Colfax Gun Club.
Steve is survived by his wife of 48 years, Debbie; children, Mike Carter and Joleen Carter; grandsons, Kasey and Vince; sister, Sharon Dooley; brother, Scott (Becky) Carter; brother-in-law, Don (Lisa) Van Houten; sister-in-law, Bobbie Pruismann; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Margaret; parents-in-law, Robert and Jerry Van Houten; and brothers-in-law, Dan Dooley and Jeff Pruismann.
A private celebration of his life and burial of cremated remains will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Unity Point Taylor House in loving memory of Steve.

Im so very sorry to learn of Steves passing. Seems like yesterday we were shoulder to shoulder framing houses and getting er done. We had a lot of great times, laughs, and hard work.

So sorry for your family. He was one of a kind . Sending a big hug to him in heaven cause I know how he hated those.Lol. Just want to him to know that he was loved ! He will be missed dearly . Prayers to you all.

Steve was a wonderful man! I've enjoyed the times & Holidays I've spent with him & my cousins! He will be missed!

We were happy to travel to spend time with Steve and my cousins a while back. Great time full of laughter. He will be missed and remembered with fondness. Our thoughts and prayers for his family.
