Bernard Tucker
November 12, 2021
Bernard Tucker went home to heaven at the age of 81, on November 12, 2021 after a lifetime of faithful service to the Lord. He was born in Connersville, Indiana to Sterling and Bernice (Turner) Tucker on November 14,1939.
Growing up Bernie faced many hurdles. He was diagnosed with Polio at a young age, and was raised by his grandparents, Orin and Carrie Arnold.
Bernie trusted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the age of 25. He attended Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa. He pastored several churches over the years, and influenced many with his preaching of the Gospel. After retirement he continued to share Jesus with others at every opportunity.
He had a heart for those with intellectual disabilities which led him to be the director of Special Camp at Iowa Regular Baptist Camp for several years.
If you ever met Bernie, he was sure to hand you a penny – with a cross engraved in it, just another way he shared God’s love. We know many will be spending eternity in heaven because of Bernie’s influence.
Bernie is lovingly remembered by his wife, Beverly; sons, Dan (Nancy) and David (Danelle) Tucker; grandchildren; Janae (Matthew) Henry, Jason (Amber) Tucker, Collin (Tara) Tucker, Colton (Monica) Tucker, Calyx Tucker, Chaning Tucker, Creed Tucker; great grandchildren; Eden Joy Tucker, and Forrest Jaxon Tucker; brother, Bill (Marsha) Lyons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Dale and Mary McKinney.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Altoona Regular Baptist Church, 803 3rd Ave SW, Altoona, Iowa at 2pm. Visitation will take place one hour prior. A private burial will take place at a later date in St. Charles Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions can be designated to the family to be distributed to his favorite charities.

To the entire Tucker family we send our condolences.
Bernie was a joy to know, a new friend and well greatly miss him!
His faithfulness to attend church whenever the doors were open was encouraging to us.
His concern for the lost was his goal in life. Giving out the pennies with a tract was a unique way to share the Gospel. He set a great example for us to follow.
Prayers for Bev and the family.

Bernie and I were classmates at Winterset High School. We both played trumpet/cornet in the band and were two of the members of a trumpet trio. Our 60th reunion was in 2018 and Bernie and his wife sat near us so we had a good opportunity to catch up on our lives after high school. He remembered the trumpet trio and asked about the third member, Virgil Wilson, who had passed a few years back.
My condolences to the family of a good man.

We have lost another dear friend. Bernie was a faithful friend and we enjoyed so many wonderful times together. One of the greatest memories is our times down in Arkansas.. Beverly, may God supply "all your need" and those of your boys and their families.

If it werent for Bernie I wouldnt be in the ministry. He was my pastor for nearly 20 years. He gave me a basic foundation and opportunity to share and serve. I also appreciate the family. Sending our sympathies and remembering you in our prayers.

Bernard spent most of his life teaching of the simplicity of accepting the Lord as Savior. He provided a fabulous testimony, to me as a child. My life was forever changed. I would have loved to have been a mouse in the corner when Bernard stepped through those gates to shake hands with Frances! I'm sorry you have temporarily lost such a magnanimous man, in your lives, but you will see him again. While Heaven is a loving him, he leaves big shoes here on earth for us to fill.
