David A. Kirkpatrick

David Allen Kirkpatrick, 74, Pleasant Hill, IA, passed away November 4, 2021 in Colorado Springs, CO, as a result of an accidental fall. Dave was born October 24, 1947 to G. Dale Kirkpatrick and Frances Allen (Lacy) Kirkpatrick in Ames, IA. He was a 1965 graduate of East High School, Des Moines, IA and attended Iowa State University. He retired from Titan Tire Company as a Fabric Engineer after 44 years. In his early years, Dave was a member of Des Moines Enduro Motorcycle Club and competed in off-road Enduro races for 10 years. After retirement, he and his wife traveled extensively, including several cruises and road trips. Dave and Sharon had three big trips planned for 2022. They spent lots of time with family and friends. Dave was an active member of the Des Moines Elks Lodge and took pride in their many charitable events. Dave is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon (Crowder), son, Michael (Tracie), Des Moines, grandsons, Preston and Landon, Des Moines, granddaughter, Diane, Palos Heights, IL, sister, Donna (Tony) Anderson, Cedar Rapids, IA, brothers, Dennis (Brenda), San Antonio, TX, James (Kendra), West Des Moines, IA and John, Cobden, IL. Also, many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Edward Kirkpatrick, mother, Frances, and father, G. Dale. Dave will be missed by all for his sense of humor, quick wit, loyalty to friends, responsibility for anything he undertook, and profound love of his family. He treasured being surrounded by his family and friends at holiday gatherings, family reunions, and his annual 4th of July Picnic. Services will be November 23rd, at Oakwood United Methodist Church, 400 NE 56th St. Pleasant Hill, IA. Visitation will be at 10 am with services to follow at 11 am. There will be a luncheon following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials to Dave be sent to the Oakwood United Methodist Church.

Sharon, we were so sorry to hear of Dave's sudden passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you at this very difficult moment. Dave and my brother were great friends and I like to think they are riding motorcycles together now.
