Timothy J. Rivas

Timothy Joseph Rivas, age 67, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Tim was born February 24, 1954 in Des Moines, Iowa to Mary “Lucille” and Lupe Dominic Rivas. He was a 1972 graduate from Des Moines Technical High School. Tim retired from John Deere after 30 years of faithful service. He enjoyed working on cars, and spending time with his family, especially his twelve grandchildren.

He will be lovingly remembered by his three daughters, Rochelle (Mel) Nutter, Tina (Jeremy) Rivas Honnold, and Tiffany (Chad) Cocking; twelve grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; three brothers, Henry (Linda) Rivas, Tony (Carol) Rivas, and Chris Rivas; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille and Lupe Rivas; and his brothers, Dominic and David Rivas.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be directed to Tim’s favorite charity – St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – which he donated to monthly.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Tim was a great guy and friend. We
went thru grade school, Weeks Jr high and most of high school together. He was a great guy. Tony, Dominic and families may peace be with you all.
