John W. Nolte

John Wayne Nolte, age 59, passed away peacefully at his home in Des Moines of cancer on Saturday, November 6, 2021, surrounded by his family.

John was born in Des Moines, Iowa on May 5, 1962, to Harmon and Jeanette Nolte. He graduated from Des Moines Technical High School in 1980.

He worked for the Edge Commercial Company for many years doing carpentry, building, and remodeling. He also loved to build furniture.

He was an outdoorsman. His passion was deer hunting and fishing. He even took a trip to Canada and shot a bear. He took many trips across the country on his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He also spent a lot of time shooting archery and hunting mushrooms in spring.

John is survived by his mother, Jeanette Nolte; brothers, Marvin Nolte of Des Moines, Paul (Debra) Nolte of Carlisle; nephews, Jason Nolte of Hartford, Jeremy (Jen) Nolte of Des Moines, Josh (Julia) Nolte of West Des Moines; nieces, Valerie Goodhue-Nolte of Carlisle, Ashton Goodhue-Nolte of Des Moines; great-nieces and nephews, Madison and Allyson Nolte of Hartford, Carson Nolte of Hartford, and Jaxson and Jameson Nolte of West Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harmon Nolte; grandparents, Vencil and Mildred Forst of Wisconsin, Sherrell and Geneva Parks of Creston.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 19, 2021, also at Hamilton’s, and will conclude with burial at Avon Cemetery.
