Jerry Brown

Jerry Brown, 82, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, November 4, 2021. He was born prior to his twin brother Larry to Stanley and Hildred (Jones) Brown in Ottumwa, Iowa on April 8, 1939.
In his younger years he enjoyed raising pigeons, fishing and hunting which continued throughout his life. He married the love of his life, Beverly “Babe” (Ashley) in 1972. They were married 49 ½ years. Their children include David and Angie Brown and 3 grandchildren.
Jerry worked at Parker Brothers for 17 years, Continental Western Insurance for 17 years and 18 years selling Grimes Sweetcorn.
Survivors include his wife, Babe; son David; daughter Angie and 3 grandchildren. Sister Patsy Parks of Des Moines and brother Beryle (Sharon) Brown of Cedar Rapids and many nieces and nephews. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, Iowa.

I am sad to see this. I only knew you from buying corn on the corner in Johnston. I was always happy to see you when the new year rolled around. Then I didnt see you...but, thought you had only moved somewhere else. I didnt even know your name.....just a nice soft spoken gentlemen. I will miss you.

Bev, I am so sad to hear you lost Jerry. I was unable to attend his life celebration Wed but know my thoughts & prayers are with you & your family as you adjust to a new life without him. Im happy you were able to have a recent vacation with Jerry. Good memories to keep. May God comfort you at this time.

1939 - 2021 What mattered most is the dash between those years. The dash represents all the time he spent alive on earth and only those who loved him know what that little line is worth. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
