Rebecca Ann Barthelemy
Of Des Moines, Iowa

Rebecca Barthelemy, age 72, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, November 4, 2021. She was born the daughter of Jack and Winifred Barden on February 15, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa. Private family services will be held.

Rebecca grew up in Des Moines, Iowa in the 50’s and 60’s. In the late 60’s she met Dennis Lockridge, and they were married in 1967. Soon after that they moved to Chicago, as Dennis was in the Army and stationed in Illinois and Wisconsin. In 1971, they had a son Christopher, and shortly after moved up to Turtle River, Minnesota, and lived only a quarter mile from Audrey and Leon Short, or Gaug and Bamp as we all knew them. Divorce soon followed and she met her 2nd husband, Bill Barthelemy. They were married in 1981 and together until 1991. Becky then moved back to Des Moines to be closer to family, and that is where she lived out the rest of her life.

When she moved to Des Moines, she applied and got a job at Data Input Services, she was there until about 2018 when it closed. At that time, she decided to get re-certified as a CNA and started work shortly after for Senior Helpers as a Home Health Care Specialist. She loved that job, she was always the caretaker of others.

Becky was a loving and caring mother, and later on she was devoted to her grandchildren. She loved going to concerts and events for both Stephanie and Bradley, or anything they did. She loved her family and would brighten a room with her warm smile and sense of humor. Becky had a passion for reading, loved going to softball games, and fishing in Minnesota.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving son, Chris (Bekah) Lockridge; grandchildren, Stephanie and Bradley; siblings, Audrey Rivas, Denny (Patty) Barden, Gary (Valerie) Barden, Mike (Jody) Barden and Patrick (Lisa) Barden; sister-in-law, Connie Barden; numerous nieces and nephews; and other loving relatives and many special friends.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Jack Barden, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital in her memory.
