Kenneth Northway

Kenneth LeRoy Northway, Sr., age 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 25, 2021 at Altoona Nursing and Rehab.

Ken was born August 28, 1938 in Des Moines, Iowa to Kenneth and Margarite Northway.

He proudly served in the United States Army. He retired from Consolidated Freightways after many years. He was a dispatcher/dock operator. He also worked for several years at Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino with his wife, Deloras Northway, and daughters LeAnn Helmick and Julie Pruis.

Kenneth is survived by his daughter, LeAnn Helmick; grandchildren: Shahna Helmick (Luc Puis), Travis Helmick (Krystal Helmick) and Joshua Pruis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Deloras, his son Kenneth L Northway, Jr, daughter Julie Pruis.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Shahna Helmick.
