Carmella was born December 31, 1918 in Des Moines, Iowa and died October 13 at Bright Kavanagh House at the age of 90. She was a loving and faithful wife of John for 69 years, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Carmella studied the Bible and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1948 and was a member of the Highland Park Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was active in her volunteer Bible education work for 61 years and helped many to come to a knowledge of God’s Word.

She was known for her lasagna, flowers and vegetable garden. She enjoyed staying busy feeding friends and family and tending her gardens. Her fondest wish was to see all her family in the paradise earth soon to come.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Carmella Raymond; four sisters, Rose Papiani, Margaret Riccio, Josephine Graffeo, and Louise Pascale; and one brother, Frank Raymond.

She is survived by five sisters and one brother, Lucy Palazzo, Antoinette Fasano, Mary Rife and Pilomenia Chiodo all of Des Moines, Julia Love of Omaha, Nebraska and James (Beverly) Raymond of Norwalk.

She is also survived by her devoted husband John; son, James (Linda) Jaquinta and daughter, Mary Jaquinta, both of Des Moines; two grandchildren, Anthony (Ronna) Jaquinta and Dawn (Michael) Velez, four great grandchildren, Dane and Ty Jaquinta, Nicholas and Drew Velez, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon, on Saturday, October 17, at 11:00 am.
