October 15, 2021
Ginger Rae Bear, age 43, passed away Friday, October 15, 2021.
Ginger was born August 28, 1978 in Des Moines, Iowa to Rodger and Nancy (Akers) Burton. She was a lifelong resident of Iowa, with the exception of 16 years in Austin, Texas. Ginger had a huge heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand or a listening ear to anyone in need. She was very talented and liked doing all kinds of crafts. Ginger loved being outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, and boating. Above all, her greatest love in life were her grandkids.
She is survived by her wife, Nancy; children, Casey Johnston, Taylor Turner, and Hope; grandchildren, Charlee, Casey Jr., Zooey, Ava, and Dorian; her mother, Nancy Burton; brother, Jason (Annie) Burton; parents-in-law, Robert and Donna Clark; and many other loving family members and friends.
Ginger was preceded in death by her father, Rodger Burton; and her son, Richard Bear.
There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.

I am a legit kind of heartbroken this happened. Ginger was a nut, in all the best ways. Such fond memories of our time spent in the tree house.
Thank you, Ging, for teaching me some band camp life hacks, and reminding me in so many ways to live every single day like it matters. I'll try to help keep an eye on Nancy. She's strong and brave and she'll be ok but I know she can't take on the weight of the world alone.
Also.. thank you for loving me, even if I lika the.. well, you know. ❤
