Mary Ellen Liggett, 96, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Valley View Village in Des Moines. Mary was born on March 29, 1924 to Edith and Roy Warren of Runnells, Iowa.
She graduated from East High School in Des Moines, class of 1941. Mary was married to Tom Liggett from 1963 – 1971. After high school, she worked in banks in Iowa and California, until she retired in 1985. Mary lived with her mother and cared for her until her passing. Some of her hobbies and interests included travelling, playing any kind of game, and was always ready to volunteer. Mary was a devoted aunt to her many nieces and nephews.
Those left to cherish her memory include her nieces, Sandy (Denny) Pennington, Perry, IA, Linda (Dan) Gregory, Conroe, TX, and Marilyn Mott, Oskaloosa, IA; and nephew, Jack (Terry) Garrett, Charlotte, NC.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; Tom Liggett; brothers, Ralph and Edgar; and two sisters, Marjorie Garrett and Mildred Haws.
Graveside service will be held at 10 am, Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Powers-Warren Cemetery, Runnells.
Donations can be sent to either Grandview Church of Christ, Unity Point Hospice or Valley View Village.

Aunt Mary was always happy to see everyone and would visit with us anytime she could. I will miss her.

Mary and I shared the same birth date, except 30 years apart but we made time for coffee to celebrate. She always had a great smile and a loving hug.

Great Aunt Mary was a beautiful and devoted woman. She had a quick smile and a lovely laugh. I will always remember drinking grape juice around the table with her and Great Grandma Ede.
