William Russell (Bill) Mintle
October 09, 2021
William Russell Mintle, age 77, suddenly went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 9, 2021. William (Bill) was born August 16, 1944, in San Francisco, California to Russell and Mary Mintle. He was a retired IBEW Local 347 Electrician of 54 years. He worked locally in addition to several different states throughout his career as well as on the Alaska Pipeline and also in Saudi Arabia.
He served his country in the Army and was stationed in Aberdeen, Maryland, where he met Susan, whom he married on November 13, 1965, and celebrated nearly 56 years together. They settled in Des Moines, Iowa, where they happily raised their three children; Tammy, Jamie, and Russell Brud. He was a wonderful husband and father and they have enjoyed watching their family grow, welcoming seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Bill and Susan spent most of their time together and enjoyed relaxing at home, going to movies, and going out to eat. He loved spending time with his family and giving tractor rides to his grandchildren. He was a hard worker. He also enjoyed building things, visiting his friends, doing projects on his bobcat or in his garage, and sitting and relaxing in his chair on his porch.
He was baptized in Des Moines and again in the Jordan River when he traveled to Israel. He loved the Lord. He spent many hours praying, reading his Bible and studying the word. He was passionate about sharing the Gospel of the Holy Spirit with his children, grandchildren, and anyone he would talk to. He creatively started up a Praise and Worship cruise on his daughters 49 passenger pirate ship in New Jersey, where local churches could facilitate their own trip and he could share his faith and fellowship.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Russell and Mary Mintle. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Susan; Children; Tammy (Skip) Weatherly; Jamie (Joel) Richard; Russell (Alecia) Mintle; Seven Grandchildren; Paige (Joe) Haines; Chase (Emily) Weatherly; Logan, Keegan, & Riley Richard, Harrison & Easton Mintle; two Great Grandchildren; Waylon and Hudson Haines; Sisters; Lila (Kirk) McCann, Donna Courtney; and many wonderful friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held, Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Woodland Hills Church of Christ. A viewing and luncheon will be held from 11:00am – 1:00pm with a service to follow at 1:00pm. Final resting place with Military Honors will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
He will be greatly missed.
