Sharon L. Parker

Sharon Lee Parker, age 80, passed away Friday, October 8, 2021.

Sharon was born December 11, 1940 in Lenox, Iowa to Harrison and Opal (Calvin) Pantry. She had been a resident of the Des Moines area since 2001, previously living in Humboldt, Iowa for twenty years. She worked at Ft. Dodge Central Lab for twenty years and Syntax Ind. in Humboldt for ten years.

In addition to raising her family and working outside the home, Sharon had many talents including sewing, quilting, and knitting. She won many first place ribbons for her knitting work at the Iowa State Fair. She enjoyed crafting and was an exceptional cook and baker. Her pies were unrivaled. Sharon loved gardening and surrounded her home with flowers. She enjoyed traveling and taking family vacations whenever they could. Family was most important to her and she loved spending time with them. Family will remember fondly what a special treat hamburger pizza was for Sharon.

She is survived by her children, Ted (Brenda) Parker, Diana Ford, and Kirk (Julie) Parker; sister, Juanita (Allen) Olney; grandchildren, Caty, Chelly, Carrie, Crissy, Kassady, Crystal, Robert, Jennifer, Jessica, Tina, Phillip Jr., Jacinda, April, Kirk Jr., Nicholas, Jason, and Amy; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and other extended family and friends.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth in 2001; daughter, Teresa Powers; brother, Bud Pantry; and parents, Harrison and Opal Pantry.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 18, 2021 at Altoona Christian Church, 2890 1st Avenue South, Altoona. Burial will follow at East Fairview Cemetery, Lenox, IA.
