Marie Roberts

Marie Roberts, 83, passed away on October 4, 2021, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. She was born in Fresno, CA, on February 4, 1938, to Stuart and Gladys Stringham.

Marie enjoyed genealogy, quilting, and loved playing cards with her grandkids and watching their football, baseball and track events. She was an avid Oakland Raiders and NASCAR fan.

Marie is survived by her son, Monte (Sue) Roberts; grandsons, Justin Roberts (fiancée Hallie Browne) and Joshua (Danika) Roberts; great-grandson, Brayton Roberts; and brother, Stuart (Janelle) Stringham; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Iowa Genealogy Society, in loving memory of Marie.

Marie was my neighbor who became a wonderful friend. I enjoyed our conversations, splitting large pizzas and just checking in on each other. I will miss her very much and blessings to her family.

Marie was a good friend and we will miss hearing the old stories about her family and Iowa. She was a good customer who knew her produce! Enjoyed praying with her and talking about issues of the day. May God bless her family.
