Mary Hudson

Mary L. Hudson, 75, passed away Monday, October 12, 2009 at her home. She was born on January 16, 1934 to Spurgeon and Elvene Jackson of Des Moines and resided on the east side.

She enjoyed needlework, painting, woodworking and travel. Especially traveling to N.E. Iowa (House on the Rock, Galena, IL and Dubuque, IA.) and throughout southern Texas. Also, she cherished time spent with her family and her beloved cat, Archie.

She will be missed by her loving husband, Russell M. Hudson of 57 years; her sons, Bob (Kathy) of Des Moines, Larry (Karen) of DeSoto, Texas; daughter-in-law, Sheila Hudson of Pleasant Hill; former daughter-in-law, Denise Hudson of West Des Moines; eight grandchildren, Laura, Aimee, Sarah, Ryan, Cassandra, Shawn, Kirk and Megan; sister, Betty Johnson of Des Moines; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Dorothy McClaren and Jeanne Jackson; son, Rick; and granddaughter, Amber.

Memorial services will be held 2 p.m., Friday, October 16, 2009 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, Iowa. There will be a private family placement of Mary's cremated remains at a later date.
