Cornelio "Bear" Suarez Vega

Cornelio “Bear” Suarez Vega was born March 23, 1979 in Salinas, California, the son of Guadalupe Vega Suarez and Cornelio Suarez. He passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 24, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Bear worked at Dee Zee for many years and enjoyed his time there. He was an avid football fan and never missed a chance to cheer on his San Francisco 49’ers. Above all else, Bear treasured time spent with his family.

Bear is survived by his mother, Guadalupe Suarez; son, Charles Suarez; siblings, Anita, Olga, Elena, Maria, Manuel, Juana and Blanca Suarez; numerous nieces and nephews; other loving relatives and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Cornelio Suarez and his siblings, Josefina and Jose Suarez.

A Rosary Service will be held at 5:00 p.m., followed by a Visitation from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, October 4, 2021 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street, Des Moines with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery.
