Shirley Ann Berry

Shirley Ann Berry, 84, passed away at Mercy Medical Center on September 24, 2021. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on August 7, 1937, the daughter of Howard and Lois Vernon.

Shirley attended Des Moines Tech High School, graduating in 1955. On March 16, 1956, she was united in marriage to Gerald D. Berry in Indianola, Iowa. Over the years she worked as a secretary for Meredith Publishing, West Des Moines Police Department, and Wallace State Office Building.

Shirley was a longtime member of the Eastern Star and truly enjoyed helping Gerald with Shriner events. In her younger years, she loved to bowl.

Shirley is survived by her children, Rick (Jill) Berry and Pam (John) Carver; grandchildren, Rachel Berry, Adam (Tabitha) Carver, and Emily Carver; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Rita Pratt; as well as other loving family and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Lois Vernon; husband, Gerald “Bud” Berry; and her siblings, Robert “Bob” Vernon, Dorn Vernon, Helen Vaux, and Howard Vernon.
