Ronald Lee Feuerhak
September 24, 2021
Ronald “Ron” Feuerhak, 68, passed away at his home on September 24, 2021, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was born February 18, 1953, the son of Leonard and Ardis (Iverson) Feuerhak.
Ron grew up in West Bend, Wisconsin, graduating from high school in 1971. He received his bachelor’s degree from Luther College and later his master’s degree from Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. In 1978, Ron was ordained at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Jewell, Iowa.
Ron was united in marriage in 1976 to Susan Kay Wittenburg in Theif River Falls, Minnesota, by Rev. Kenneth Wittenburg and Rev. Donald Feuerhak. Three children were born to this union: David Craig, Ann Kathryn, and Paul Lee. Ron and Susan later divorced. On December 28, 2018, he married Linda Johnson in Des Moines, Iowa.
In 1982, Ron pastored at Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca, Iowa. He then moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where he studied chaplaincy. After completion, Ron served as a Chaplain in Blairsburg, Nebraska, and Bethany Manor Nursing Home in Story City, Iowa. Following his years as a Chaplain, Ron worked as an administrator at Northwood Lutheran Home and Clear Lake Assisted Living. In 2009, Ron retired at the age of 55 due to declining health.
Ron attended Grace Church and Union Baptist Church in Des Moines for many years. He enjoyed antiques, being involved with the church, and being with people. Ron was known to love a good cup of coffee and conversation; and was always willing to offer a listening ear and counsel.
Ron was very much a people person and loved the company of others. His positive and joyful personality will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Linda Jean Johnson; children, David (Darra Jean) Feuerhak, Ann Steele, and Laura (Travis) Wolfe; grandchildren, Susan, Justin, Noah, Jonah, Elizabeth, Anaiah, Moriah, and Kaleb. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Barb Feuerhak, as well as many extended family and beloved friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; son, Paul (1993), and his brother, Donald (2020).
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 4, 2021, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. in Des Moines, with burial at Fairview Cemetery in Story City, Iowa. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 3 from 2-4 p.m., also at the funeral home.

I grew up with Ron in West Bend many years ago. Even then he talked of he and his brother going into the ministry. Ron's father worked for the railroad. It seems like they always had new Chevrolets and every summer they went to Lake Tomahawk, Wisconsin for vacation. For many years Ron was my best friend. It is sobering to find that someone you let slip away, is no longer within your reach. When I get to meet you again on the other side, I will bring my model cars and we will play with them under the bushes in your driveway. Rest in peace, my friend.
