Toni Lee Eilbert
Of Des Moines, Iowa
Toni Eilbert, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Methodist Hospital. She was born the daughter of Anthony and Dorris (Robbins) DeFino on August 6, 1945. Toni grew up in Des Moines and graduated from St. Joseph Academy with the Class of 1963. She later married Richard Eilbert on September 4, 1964.
Toni was an avid reader, she enjoyed antiquing, going on outings and socializing with friends. She especially had a passion for the outdoors, she loved gardening and working in her yard. In her free time, she enjoyed watching classic movies, she never missed an episode of The Walking Dead and always looked forward to discussing it afterwards with her granddaughter, Margo. Toni had a beautiful way of always making those around her feel special for example, reminding her first and only grandson that when he was born he instantly melted her heart. Toni will be remembered and live on through the hearts and lives that she has touched in her lifetime.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving daughters, Yvette Eilbert and Deneen (Bryan Russell) Eilbert; grandson, Connor Eilbert; granddaughter, Margo Marcum; siblings, Suzanne (Tom) Dose, Mike (Kathy) DeFino, and Chuck (Julie) DeFino; and many other loving family members and friends.
Toni was preceded in death by her parents; and beloved husband of 47 years, Richard Eilbert.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m., with a Rosary Vigil at 5:30 pm and Mass of Christian burial to begin at 6:00 p.m., Friday, October 1, 2021 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Private family burial will be held at Avon Cemetery.

Toni was wise, witty and always knew how to put a smile on everyone’s face. She leaves a legacy of selflessness, generosity and compassion. She was stubborn until the very end!

I will miss Toni commenting on FB. She always had a strong opinion on politics which I agreed with. She was one "to say it like it is." She never beat around the bush. Toni was very honest and I will miss that now..Now she is in the arms of the Lord and with her loved ones. Rest in Peace Toni

I loved Toni from our days at the Academy because we seemed to have a common sense of humor. We lost touch after school and now I really regret that. I am so sorry about your loss and will keep you in my prayers and thoughts.

I met Toni as a sophomore at St Joseph Academy and for 60 years we never lost touch. We traveled together and celebrated our birthdays most years! She actually was more like family than friend ❤ I will forever have her in my heart❤
