Donald “Don” Martin Kleywegt
Of Altoona, Iowa

Don Kleywegt, 64, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at his home. He was born the son of Dutch and Patricia (Williams) Kleywegt on September 1, 1957 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Don lived in Des Moines until he was eight years old, then the family moved to South America and stayed there for about two years, before returning back to Des Moines. His family moved to Runnells in 1969 and Don later graduated from Southeast Polk High School. Don worked in the grocery industry throughout his entire life in Des Moines and other surrounding areas. Don enjoyed nothing more than being surrounded by family during get-togethers.

He is lovingly survived by his brother, Bob (Tina Reed) Kleywegt; sisters-in-law, Kathy Kleywegt, Linda Kleywegt and Cindy (Brad) Robbins; step-mother, Shirley Kleywegt; nieces and nephews, Rich (Melody), Beth, Roni, Ashley (Mike), Justin (Alissa), Jessica (Seth), John and Jacob; great nieces and nephews, Alexia, Aaron, Ashlye, Brynlee, Camden, Genesis, Jade, Titus, Senque, Opal and Halo; and other loving relatives and many special friends.

Don was preceded in death by his father, Dutch Kleywegt; mother, Patricia Kleywegt; brothers, Ron and John Kleywegt; nephew, Ronnie Kleywegt, Jr.; and step-sister, Tracy Cheney.

Per Don’s wishes cremation will occur and no services are planned at this time.
