Jean M. Battles

Jean Marie Battles, 93, passed away on September 20, 2021, at Valley View Village in Des Moines. Jean was born July 7, 1928, in Des Moines, Iowa to Gertrude and William McPherson. She was one of nine children.
Jean met her husband, David Paul Battles in April of 1949 and they were married on November 19, 1949. They spent their life raising their children in the Des Moines area. After her husband passed away, Jean moved to Mercy Park Apartments and currently resided at Valley View Village. Jean was a longtime member of All Saints Catholic Church and also enjoyed the chapel at Mercy Hospital.
Jean is survived by her children, Joseph, Mark, Danelle, and Janet; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; and siblings, Warren and Nancy. She was preceded in death by her husband, David; parents; siblings, Billy, Dorothy, Ann, Earl, John and Doug.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Friday, September 24, 2021, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in loving memory of Jean.

I worked with Jean about 9 years at Dahls on Euclid. She was such a sweet person and I never forgot her. That was my first full time job and she was always so refreshing to work with. I am so sorry for your loss.

I did jeans hair fit years at mercy park she was a wonderful woman she loved getting her hair done and talked about her late husband and children and grandkids rip Jean your with David again

I only met her a couple of times tru the marriage of her Granddaughter Megan and my son Mike Hay she was very pleasant to talk too, so sweet and she loved those babies and that hair of hers was drop dead
