Cynthia Credia Ferrell
October 24, 1949 (Sunrise) – September 16, 2021 (Sunset)
Cynthia C. Ferrell was born in Des Moines, Iowa on October 24, 1949 to the late Everett C. and Bessie L. Matthews.
Cynthia accepted Christ as her Lord and savior at an early age. Her strong desire to have a relationship with her heavenly father fed her pursuit of him by studying HIS word, traveling and exploring the holy land in Jerusalem, attending Shofar weekly, and searching for HIS truth. She was a retired federal employee of 37 years, where she worked as an Investigator for Housing and Urban Development. Cynthia was a graduate of East High School and then later graduated from Des Moines Area Community College.
Cynthia was a wonderful sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a cherished friend to all. Cynthia will be lovingly remembered for her spontaneous and upbeat spirit and her tenacity to protect her family. Those who really knew her understood that if you crossed her, she would correct you. Cynthia was known for giving the best hugs. Those tight squeezes could turn any frown into a smile! If you have never had one of her hugs, you don’t know what you are missing. And let’s talk about that contagious laugh. That laugh would fill a room with joy and steal the scene. If you listen, you can probably hear it. She loved perfume and always smelled so good. She also loved shoes, reading, singing, gardening, and learning new things.
Cynthia leaves to cherish her memory: two children: Tim Ferrell (Monique) and Latanya Lowery; five grandchildren: Alexis Harrison (Martel), Asa Ferrell (Gabriella), Alivya Ferrell, Ayanna Ferrell and Kaiden Lowery; three great-grandchildren: ObadiYAH Ferrell, MoriYAH Ferrell and Kaycen Harrison; her sister Carmilla “Theresa” Edwards; two nieces: Cassandra Bakker (Marc) and Sonia Pyka; nephew Antoine “Cornelius” Matthews (Amanda), honorary daughter, Urasaline “Rossi” Frith, and a host of additional “adopted” sons, daughters, and grandchildren whom she loved and cared for as her own.
Services will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Covenant Christian Church located at 2700 72nd Street, Urbandale, Iowa 50322.

My condolences, love and prayers to Cynthia's children and family. I always loved running into Cynthia and spend at least an hour, both trying to catch up on what's going on with our children. Didn't see her often lately, but I am truly going to miss her.

I knew Cynthia as a co-worker at the US Dept. of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). In fact, I knew her throughout her entire career. Our cubicles were close and we could hear each other phone conversations. She had a very challenging job. Most of her calls were Fair Housing complaints and very stressful at times. Cynthia was a true professional. She had an abundance of grace and treated those callers with respect. I will always remember her loud and contagious laugh and she was a coffee drinker thought out the entire day. I have thought of her the last few days. My sympathy to her family. Heaven is sweeter with her there.
