Elizabeth "Bess" Thompson

Elizabeth “Bess” Louise Thompson, age 84, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021.
Bess was born May 24, 1937 in Melrose, Iowa to Frank and Margaret (Tierney) Nalevanko. She married Curtis L. Thompson. Bess was primarily a homemaker, taking loving care of her family. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She took loving care of five generations of children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Christine (Larry) Sanxter, Curtis (Kathy) Thompson, Michael Thompson, Doreen Benfer, and Susan (Linny) Johnson; step-daughters, Karolyn Santos and Kathy Nemer; siblings, Lorraine Carr, Joann Rogerson, and Thomas (Becky) Nalevanko; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Bess was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Margaret Nalevanko; husband, Curtis Thompson; siblings, Francis Nalevanko and Marguerite (Peg) Hinebaugh; and grandson, Daniel Curtis Woodard.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 19, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3300 Easton Blvd, Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2021, also at the church, and will conclude with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Contributions may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in loving memory of Bess.

Bess will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts shes a part of our family in our hearts and soul and always will be. Rest In Peace Bess you will be missed tremendously but never forgotten.
