Donna M. Kelso

Donna Mae Kelso, age 79, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021 after a hard-fought battle with COPD.

Donna was born February 1, 1942 in Iowa City, Iowa to Gail and Elva (Shapper) Ridgers.

She was a hard worker and was employed as a dishwasher and a cook during her working years. She was an excellent cook. Donna enjoyed flowers and all animals. She especially loved her cat and feeding the wildlife in her yard. Donna collected antique glassware and loved gospel music. She was truly the sweetest lady in the world.

She is survived by her niece, Tina, who affectionately called her “Aunt DD”; and her long-time friends, Gary and Jim.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Gail and Elva Ridgers; husband, Robert Kelso; one brother; and two sisters, one of whom was her twin.

Cremation will occur and Donna will be interred at Iowa Veterans Cemetery next to her husband, Robert.

During Donna’s lifetime, she would often send school supplies to support the children on reservations in Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to a similar charity or a charity close to the donor’s heart.
