Craig Gaines

Craig Anthony Gaines, 68, passed away on September 8, 2021 at the VA Central Iowa Health Care System in Des Moines, Iowa.

Craig was born April 18, 1953 to William and Claudia Gaines, Sr., in Des Moines, IA. He graduated from North High School and then entered the United States Marine Corps. He worked for the MTA for many years before having to retire due to an injury. Craig loved to work on cars and had a knack for all things mechanical. He loved to have the fanciest car around!

He is survived by his daughter, Chonte (Richard Dameron) Duncan of Des Moines; a son of Des Moines; a daughter of California; his brother, Dwight (Jessica) Gaines, Sr. of Waukee; and a cousin, Anthony (Brian) Turner of Staten Island, New York.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son; siblings, William Gaines, Jr., Pamela Woods, Mitchell Gaines, Wayne Gaines; nieces, Deanna Allen, Danielle Gaines, and Shiwannie Woods.

Per Craig’s request, no services will be held. Memorial contributions may be designated to the family.
