Rodrigo Mayorga Robles

Rodrigo Mayorga Robles, 78, died Saturday, September 11, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 8, 1943 to Anselmo Mayorga and Sara Robles in El Plateado, Zacatecas, Mexico.

Rodrigo was always opening new paths for his family and did this when he decided to open the way by coming from Mexico with his whole family, to give his children a better future. Rodrigo was a very tough man, courageous, and a hard worker. He was a very hard man with everyone but thanks to his scolding and advice his children are now good people. And most importantly, he taught them to work and to be responsible. He did not fail as a father.

Rodrigo worked many years at La Tapatia and most recently with the horses at Prairie Meadows Race Track.

Rodrigo is survived by his wife of 57 years, Esperanza Marquez Mayorga; children, Marisela , Efrain, Elemuel, Esmeralda, Jose Manuel, Gloria, Antonio, Maria Elena Marquez, Jose Guadalupe, and Jose Alejando; numerous (well over 50) grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Otoniel, Antonio, Benardino, Benjamin, Amelia, Angelica, and Maria Castolina; and a host of other family and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Victor and Humberto; two grandchildren; brother, Eufracio; and sisters, Guadalupe and Elisa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday September 18, 2021 at Our Lady of the Americas Parish, 1271 E 9th Street, in Des Moines with interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Pleasant Hill. Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.

Rodrigo Mayorga Robles, de 78 años, murió el sábado 11 de septiembre de 2021 en su casa rodeado de su amada familia. Nació el 8 de abril de 1943 de Anselmo Mayorga y Sara Robles en El Plateado, Zacatecas, México.

Rodrigo siempre estaba abriendo nuevos caminos para su familia y lo hizo cuando decidió abrir el camino viniendo de México con toda su familia, para darle a sus hijos un futuro mejor. Rodrigo era un hombre muy duro, valiente y trabajador. Era un hombre muy duro con todos, pero gracias a sus regaños y consejos sus hijos ahora son buenas personas. Y lo más importante, les enseñó a trabajar y a ser responsables. No falló como padre.

Rodrigo trabajó muchos años en La Tapatia y más recientemente con los caballos en Prairie Meadows Race Track.

A Rodrigo le sobreviven su esposa durante 57 años, Esperanza Márquez Mayorga; niños, Marisela, Efraín, Elemuel, Esmeralda, José Manuel, Gloria, Antonio, María Elena Márquez, José Guadalupe y José Alejando; numerosos (más de 50) nietos; varios bisnietos; hermanos Otoniel, Antonio, Benardino, Benjamín, Amelia, Angélica y María Castolina; y una gran cantidad de otros familiares y amigos queridos.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres; hijos, Víctor y Humberto; dos nietos; hermano, Eufracio; y hermanas Guadalupe y Elisa.

Se llevará a cabo una misa de entierro cristiano el 10 a.m. sábado 18 de septiembre de 2021 en la parroquia de Our Lady of the Americas, 1271 E 9th Street, en Des Moines, y el entierro seguirá en el cementerio de Oakwood en Pleasant Hill. La familia recibirá a los amigos a partir de las 5 p.m. a las 8 p.m. Viernes en Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
