Doris L. Porter, 90, died Friday, September 10, 2021 at Regency Care Center in Norwalk. She was born March 10, 1931 to Alva and Cleta (Sickles) Pyle in rural southern Iowa.
Doris lived most of her life in Mitchellville and was a long time member of Mitchellville United Methodist Church. She retired from Allied Insurance and loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Barbara E. Galloway and her daughter, Julie Mabeus (Michael); son, Gary R. Porter (Margaret) and their children, Carly Duckworth (Zach) and their children, Grace and Logan; and Robbie Porter (Emily); son, Philip Porter (Brenda) and their children, Nathan Porter (April) and their children, Max and Macy; and Hayley Porter; sisters, Ruth Knosby and Louise Hay; brother, Eldon Pyle (Jackie) and a host of other family and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Porter; brother, Lee Pyle; and son-in-law, Travis Galloway.
Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Hamilton’s Mitchellville Funeral Home, 303 Center Avenue South, Mitchellville, with interment to follow at Mitchellville Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

I've known Doris all my life. She was my dad, Don's, cousin. I remember her laugh and great sense of humor. .

I was sorry to hear about the passing of Aunt Doris. In the last several years when we visited our grandma, she often stopped by and I always enjoyed the time with her. And I liked that my nephews got the chance to know her! Sincerely, Julie
