Janet Ellen (Adams) Gross, 84, passed away Monday, September 6, 2021, peacefully at home with family.
A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 517 SW Des Moines St, Ankeny, IA with visitation held from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. prior to service time.
Jan was born August 30, 1937, in Ogden, Iowa to Edwin and Bernice Adams. She attended Johnston schools and graduated in 1955. Jan married Don Gross in 1956 and three wonderful children were born into this union, Don Jr, Steve, and Judi.
She spent 16 ½ years working for EMC in Des Moines and retired in 2002. She was an avid Hawkeye, Bulls and Cubs fan and enjoyed bringing her family and grandchildren to games in Iowa City and Chicago. Throughout her life and especially through retirement, Jan was a traveler. She took many long road trips with her friend Evie and spent time in Alaska, Australia, New Zealand, and Germany. Jan enjoyed bike riding and at 72 years of age fulfilled her dream to ride RAGBRAI. She was a member Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Ankeny, Iowa.
She is survived by her children, Don Jr, Steve (April), and Judi (Jeff) Semmens; grandchildren, Ben (Esther), Nathan (Alicia), Stephanie (Matt) McCurdy, and Alyson (Chris) Haidsiak; great –grandchildren, Reeselyn, Addyson, Hutton, Norah, Campbell, Dante and David.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Harold Adams of Prairie City, Iowa.
