Cam Van Tran

Cam Van Tran, 54, passed away at his home on September 2, 2021. He was born in Saigon, Vietnam to Huu Chung and Tu Tran on February 25, 1967. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 13, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, Iowa.

Cam moved to the United States at age 18 to be closer to family. He graduated from North High School and was a machinist for various companies throughout Des Moines over the years. He loved fixing cars and helped all his friends and loved ones with their car troubles – a jack of all trades.

Cam loved being a grandfather to his six grandchildren and spent lots of time tinkering in his garage. He was very soft spoken, kind and a very hard worker.

He is survived by his children, Tony Tran, Bobby (Erin Huckins-Tran) Tran, and Sara (Juan) Jacinto-Tran; parents, Tu Tran and Huu Chung; his wife, Loan Thai; siblings, Minh Tran, Hoa (Tac Hong) Tran, Linh (Rick Leers) Tran, Vi (Cayte) Tran; grandchildren, Alexis Tran, Andrew Philpula, Benjamin Tran, Jade Jacinto-Tran, Damien Jacinto-Tran, and Declan Jacinto-Tran; together with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
