Jean Janice Leabo-Baugh, 101, passed away at Karen Acres in Urbandale, IA on September 1, 2021. She will be cremated and laid to rest in the columbarium at Trinity Episcopal Church in Independence, MO.
Jean was born on August 5, 1920 in Cleveland, OK to Maudie Bell Lucus Jobe and Frank Hardy Jobe. She graduated from high school in Cleveland, OK and later lived in Tulsa, OK, Independence, MO, and Colorado Springs, CO, and most recently in West Des Moines, IA. As her health failed, Jean was primarily a homemaker, but was a talented pottery designer for Van Briegel Pottery in Colorado Springs for many years. In addition, she also enjoyed painting, traveling collecting Indian artifacts, dolls, and coins. A special hobby of hers was digging up rocks and tumbling them into beautiful gem stones. Jean was a long time member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Independence, MO.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (William) Leabo-Dirks; her son, Gary (Barbara) Leabo; four grandchildren, Jennifer Smith, Melanie (Jay) O’Donahue, Chad (Ann) Leabo, Todd (Denise) Leabo; eight great-grandchildren, Creighton, Chloe Ann, Ashley, Frank, James, Remey, Cooper, Addie; and one great-great-grandchild, Cheyenne.
Jean was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Jobe; and her husbands.
Jean was loved by all her family and friends.

I am glad to have met Jean at Karen Acres several times when I entertained there singing and playing guitar. She told me she would really like to hear "South of the Border" by Gene Autry, so I learned it and played it every time I performed there. I always enjoyed speaking with Jean.
